Winter at Lake Tahoe

Winters at Lake Tahoe are wonderful. As a winter sports destination you can find no equal. With an average of 500 inches of snow per year and 260 days of sunshine our climate can't be beat. Here are some good links and phone numbers for the area.

Kirkwood Mountain Resort

If the roads are clear take the alternate route back to the Bay Area via Hwy 88. This will get you away from a good percentage of the weekend traffic.

Purchasing lift tickets in advance? Lake Tahoe has is blessed with 14 local ski areas. So why would you limit yourself to choices made from home? We recommend purchasing your lift passes after you arrive, preferably the morning of your ski day. Weather and snow conditions may make the choice that you made back home a poor one. While you are here at the B&B just ask any of us where we would ski? Who knows we might even get the chance to make a run or two with you.

There are unlimited options for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Tahoma Meadows is surrounded by state parks, wilderness and national forest.

Sugar Pine Pt. State Park:

Within walking distance (20 minutes through the neighborhood) . Ski the trails of the 1960 Olympics. Groomed striding lanes. Some skating is available where the trails allow. Sorry doggers are not allowed on these trails.

Snowshoeing

If you can walk you can snow shoe. All of our hiking trails make great snow shoeing trails during the winter months. We actually do most of our snow shoeing at night. If the moon is out at all you don't even need a flash light.

On the Beach? Sugar Pine Point State Park and Meeks bay. What could be more fun then snowshoeing along the beautiful shores of Lake Tahoe?

Desolation Wilderness: Unlimited possibilities.

The most important thing is to have fun out there.

Snow Play

Snow Play: There are lots of areas to go sledding and just play in the snow. In fact just after any storm we have some pretty good sledding here at the B&B.
