Summer and Fall at Lake Tahoe

"Miller Meadow"Summer is one of the most popular seasons here at Lake Tahoe.  You can usually "Relaxing near Crag Lake"count on summer starting around June sometime and continuing on into September and October.  Here are some links and other information that may be helpful or of interest.  Remember that many of the Summer activities continue well into the Fall.  In fact the hiking, biking and fishing only get better during the fall.

Fishing

Mara's first fish in a fly. This area abounds with great waters to throw a fly at.  If you are unfamiliar with the area we highly recommend hiringHigh Country Lake Trout a guide.  While there are plenty of destinations where you can find fish easily if you plan to fish the Truckee or Little Truckee hiring a guide will make your time on the water much more rewarding.  They don't call the Truckee, "The Toughy" for nothing.  We also recommend booking guides well in advance of your arrival, during the summer months booking a guide last minute is next to impossible.

Kayaking

Lake Tahoe is a spectacular place to kayak.  If you want to get out on the water, and we recommend that you do, a kayak is one of the best ways to do it.  Sea or touring kayaks are very stable and safe so anyone can paddle one.   On a calm day it will seem as if you are floating above the bottom of the lake suspended in air.   It is a feeling that you can get only in a kayak.

ATV and 4x4 Tours

Tahoma Meadows is located just 1/2 mile from the East end of the famous Rubicon Jeep trail.   This is rated as one of the knarliest 4x4 trails in the country.    If you are planning on doing any driving on the trail you had better have a pretty heavy duty 4x4.   The average rental Ford Explorer wont make it 100 yards beyond the staging area.
