Tahoma Meadows Needs Your Help!
We are in danger of losing our local ski area. Homewood Mountain Resort is in the process of redeveloping their parking area and doing some much needed improvements to the ski area. JMA, Homewood's parent company, has already stated that if the project does not go forward Homewood will close it's doors. Not only would this be devastating for us here at the B&B, our local economy here on the West Shore would most likely collapse. Hundreds of jobs and families livelihoods are at stake.
The self serving group of Second Homeowners calling itself the "Friends of the West Shore" is misleading people regarding the scale of the project and using the environment as cover. It's not even close to the size of Squaw or Northstars projects. We've also found out that the main people behind this group don't even come to Tahoe during the winter months, no wonder they don't care about the ski area. Unfortunately the truth is that if the project fails, none of the environmental work will get done. JMA has already put more time and money into environmental work to help Tahoe than any of the other previous owners. The Homewood Redevelopment Project also has the support of the Sierra Club and many local environmental agencies as a Green and LEED project, which will help Lake Tahoe. These NIMBYs (Not In My Backyarders) with the help of the San Francisco lawyers just don't want anything to change.
What can you do to help? Drop an email or letter to the agencies below. Or click the Homewood Project link and sign show your support.
